This is a very vulnerable and transparent post for me to write and I have a lot to say... so please be patient and read through this. Not to sound cheesy, but this really could change your life. If you read my post, “A Wellness Journey…”, you know why all of this is so important for me to share with you. If you haven't read that blog post yet, please do.
I’ve been active and athletic my entire life. I had two c-sections and a hysterectomy. I did a lot of cardio and my version of “strength training”; I felt and looked great. I was diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease when I was 30 years old.
In January, 2018 my discs completely collapsed and in April, 2018 I had a spinal fusion. My surgeon performs his spinal surgeries going through the patient’s abdomen. Yes, that’s four abdominal surgeries cutting though my muscles each time. While I was considered a poster child for the surgery and recovery, my doctor required me to wait almost six months to start any core or heavy lifting workouts.
Then, menopause decided to hit hard. Uggh.
I continued to work hard doing the same cardio, eat salads and not eat carbs (ok, other than chocolate) but I still didn't feel great, my fitness level wasn’t where I wanted it and that dang belly fat was lingering. Considering all of the obstacles, I suppose I could’ve used them as excuses to give up on my health and wellness but, nope, not me.
Although I wasn’t giving up, I was very discouraged. One day, while scrolling through Instagram, I read a blogger’s post about Faster Way to Fat Loss (FWTFL). While I read post after post about her success and what a life changer it was for her, the skeptic in me didn’t check into it for quite some time. I kept doing what I knew and I wasn’t getting anywhere.
Feeling like I had nothing to lose, I finally gave in and signed up for a 6 week round of FWTFL. I learned things I thought I knew everything about but was obviously wrong. After the first 6 weeks, I went on to their VIP program. I have an amazing coach, Loren Mattingly, that motivates and inspires me every day. It seriously was the best $199 I have ever spent and I will live the FW lifestyle for the rest of my life.
So, what is it? No, it’s a diet. It’s a lifestyle of balance with nutrition, fitness, health and wellness the priority.
THESE ARE 10 THINGS, OF MANY, THAT I LEARNED AND YOU CAN TOO!
